Arts equipment grants create opportunities for artists

NT Government

Grants of up to $10,000 are now available to purchase, transport, and install equipment for the creation, presentation, promotion, and sale of artworks.

Arts organisations and Aboriginal-owned art centres based in regional and remote communities of the Territory will be prioritised for support.

Focused on developing the capacity of arts and culture facilities in the Territory, the grants will generate more opportunities and income for artists and arts organisations through the creation and sale of artworks.

Offsetting the costs of essential equipment will assist artists to create quality and diverse art works, and support workplace safety and accessibility.

Examples of equipment that can be purchased include:

tools for sculpture and carving;tools for preparing canvas stretchers;kilns and pottery wheels;cameras and video recorders for documenting or creating artwork;microphones, amplifiers and musical instruments;software and hardware for music recording and production;sound and lighting equipment and fittings for galleries, stages and amphitheatres; andfurniture for storing and displaying artworks.

Funding is also able for equipment that supports work health and safety needs, accessible facilities for artists, as well as transport and installation costs.

Art Equipment Grants are open until 31 May 2024, or until the budget is expended.
