Ascot Incident Charges 17 August

Cannington Detectives have charged a man in relation to an incident in Ascot yesterday, Wednesday 16 August 2023.
About 12:50pm, an incident occurred between the drivers of two vehicles – a Hino tow truck and a Fiat Ducato van - on Great Eastern Highway in Ascot. The two male drivers exited their vehicles and a verbal altercation ensued.
It will be alleged during the incident the driver of the tow truck brandished a knife in an aggressive manner.
It will be further alleged a man aged in his 30s, who was not involved in the initial incident but had stopped at the scene, was struck by the Hino tow truck as it drove from the scene. He was subsequently conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital by St John WA for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A 44-year-old man from Ellenbrook, who it is alleged was driving the Hino tow truck, has been charged with:
- Being armed in a way that may cause fear; and
- Unlawful act or omission with intent to harm (endangering life, health or safety of any person)
He was refused bail and is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today, Thursday 17 August 2023.
