Ashurst Expands US Finance Practice with NY Partner Hire

Global law firm Ashurst announces the appointment of international finance lawyer Rossie Turman as a partner in the Global Loans team, based in New York, as the firm continues to invest in and expand its US offering.

With more than 25 years of experience, Rossie advises private credit funds, alternative asset managers, banks and multinational corporates on complex cross-border debt financings, special situations, and leveraged finance transactions across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. He has particular expertise in the digital economy, sustainable energy, infrastructure, and Africa-related financings, and is recognised for delivering innovative solutions on high-value, cross-border transactions for clients operating in both established and emerging markets.

Commenting, Lee Doyle, Global Chair of the Bank Industry at Ashurst said: "As the global banking sector continues to undergo rapid transformation, Rossie's extensive expertise in private credit and cross-border financing will significantly enhance our global team and build on our existing strengths. Rossie will be a great asset to our team as we continue to expand our US offering."

The third partner to join Ashurst in the US over the last six months, Rossie's appointment reinforces the firm's rapidly growing presence in the US global banking market.

Paul Jenkins, Global CEO of Ashurst, said: "As demand for private capital continues to grow and the credit landscape evolves, clients are looking for advisers who combine technical excellence with the ability to deliver seamlessly across borders. Rossie's deep expertise in private credit and multi-jurisdictional transactions, particularly in high-growth sectors further strengthens our ability to deliver the advanced, integrated solutions our clients need. His leadership and experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow our US presence."

Sharon Kim, New York Office Managing Partner, added: "Expanding our US practice is a strategic priority for the firm, and Rossie's appointment underscores our ongoing investment in building a leading US platform. His addition broadens our capabilities for existing clients and opens new opportunities with private credit funds, Africa-focused investors, and high-growth technology companies at a time where tailored debt solutions has never been in such high demand. Rossie is one of the most respected lawyers in New York and he joins following a period of significant investment in our US finance practice, including the recent arrivals of Joe Giannini and Nick Allen."

Rossie said, "Ashurst's collaborative culture, global platform and commitment to innovation align perfectly with the needs of my clients and the next phase of the practice. I look forward to working with my new colleagues in New York and across the firm to help clients navigate today's dynamic financing landscape and to drive the continued growth of Ashurst's US business."
