Assault And Domestic Violence Charges, Tara Area

Police have charged a man after a woman was assaulted near Tara yesterday, 6 May. 

Over several hours yesterday, it is alleged the man assaulted the woman and threatened her with a knife on numerous occasions.

It will be further alleged the man assaulted a 12-year-old boy during the incident.

The man and woman are known to each other.

Police were notified and attended the location around midday yesterday at which time the man fled the property in a vehicle.

He was located and arrested around 3am this morning in Goranba by specialist police.

A 26-year-old man from Goranba has been charged with one count each of threatening violence and torture and two counts each of common assault against a child, assault occasioning bodily harm, four counts each of assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence), four counts each of common assault and two counts each produce a dangerous drug, breach of bail, obstruct police and one count of possession of a dangerous drug .

He will appear in the Dalby Magistrates Court this morning. 

The woman and boy are receiving ongoing medical and professional support.
