Assault charge after officers kicked during arrest - Condell Park

A man is due in Parramatta Bail Court today charged with assaulting police during his arrest at Condell Park.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command were called to Yanderra Street about 5pm (Saturday 24 October 2020), after a car window was smashed by a man using a hammer.

Police arrested a 24-year-old man nearby; however, a struggle ensued and two officers sustained cuts and bruising after allegedly being kicked.

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with

• Assault police (two counts)

• Assault police – cause actual bodily harm

• Resist police

• Malicious damage, and

• Offensive language.

He's also been charged with breaching his bail conditions.

The man, from Bankstown, has been refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 25 October 2020).

Neither officer required medical treatment.
