Attempted murder charges at Townsville

Two teenage boys have been charged with attempted murder following an incident at a youth detention centre at Rowes Bay on Saturday (December 10).

Police were called to the facility just after midday to reports a 17-year-old boy had been wounded with a sharp object.

He was transported to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.

A 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy were taken into custody without incident.

The 16-year-old has been charged with one count each of attempted murder and enter premises with intent.

The 17-year-old has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, robbery whilst armed and enter premises with intent.

Both are expected to appear before Townsville Children's Court.
