Attempted Rape And Stalking Charges At Toowoomba

Detectives from Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man with attempted rape and stalking offences following an alleged incident on 31 March.

Around 11pm, a 30-year-old woman was walking in the Newtown area when she was allegedly followed by a man for several kilometres before he approached her from behind and struck her over the head with a rock.

The offender than allegedly attempted to assault the woman before he was interrupted by a nearby resident and fled the scene on foot.

The woman received injuries to her head and back and was transported to Toowoomba Hospital for treatment.

Following an extensive investigations officers located the offender in the Toowoomba CBD area yesterday, 26 April where he was arrested and taken into custody.

A 20-year-old Glenvale man has been charged with unlawful stalking and attempt to commit rape.

He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today, 27 April .
