Attempted robbery, Urangan

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and an attempt made to steal his car in Urangan last night (February 19).

Just after 10pm the man was sitting in his car in a parking bay on Elizabeth Street at the Urangan Esplanade when he was approached from behind by two males wearing hoods.

One threatened him with a knife while the other entered the passenger side of the car.

The driver was forced out of the car while the two males tried to start the engine.

They were unsuccessful and fled the scene when passers-by stopped to help the driver.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a grey Jeep Patriot wagon in the area at the time, or who may have relevant dash camera footage, to come forward.
