Attestation forms for travel to and within France

Attestations

Movement to, through and within France is strictly regulated at the moment. You will need to complete an 'attestation' form if you are travelling to or within mainland France, and to or around French overseas territories.

The easiest option is to print the form and fill it in. If you are unable to print then a handwritten form is acceptable. The most commonly used form for essential activities (attestation de déplacement dérogatoire) is also available to fill in on a mobile device.

Find out which form you need to use below. In some instances you may need multiple attestation forms.

There are five attestation forms currently in use.

Trips within France

Attestation de déplacement dérogatoire

This needs to be completed any time you travel outside your home within France for essential activities (for example grocery shopping, exercise, doctor's visit, work) - a full list of authorised activities is available on gouvernment.fr.

Some French departments have additional restrictions in place with regards to exercise outside or to evening curfews e.g. you are not allowed to go running in Paris between 10am and 7pm. Check with the local département to find out about additional restrictions in a given area.

British nationals returning to the UK

If you are a British national in France and travelling back to the UK, we suggest you tick "déplacements pour motif familial impérieux, pour l'assistance aux personnes vulnerables ou la garde d'enfants."

You will also need proof of your homeward-bound journey (for example. Eurostar, ferry, Eurotunnel or airplane ticket) to accompany the attestation. Please check with your operator directly for timetables and before travelling. We also recommend you carry proof you live in the UK, if possible.

Déplacement professionnel

This should be completed by your employer if you need to travel to your workplace for professional reasons (if working from home is not possible, for example).

You will also need to complete the "attestation de déplacement dérogatoire".

International trips

Access restrictions to Mainland France and to French Overseas territories are also in effect. Every traveller is required to fill out and carry one of the following travel certificates, depending on their situation.

The document is to be presented to transport operators before boarding, as well as to border control authorities.
