Australia Adult English Learning Program: Bayside

Bayside Library runs a free Living in Australia Adult English Learning Program that includes beginner English conversation classes and post-beginner classes covering basic reading and writing skills.

These free classes, facilitated by a volunteer teacher, give new migrants an opportunity to meet new people while improving their English-speaking skills in a professional, inclusive and supportive environment.

The weekly English conversation class for adult beginners are held weekly at Mascot Library and cover basic grammar and simple conversations for daily communication.

The Adult Post Beginners classes, held at the Rockdale Library, help improve listening, reading, speaking and writing skills.

Small group discussions on different topics help the students to engage and participate in learning activities.

Students come from diverse cultural backgrounds including Belarus, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Ukraine, Venezuela and Vietnam.

The classes are promoted on Council's website and books are essential.
