Today I announce the appointment of Mr Dave Vosen as Australia's next Ambassador to Denmark. The Ambassador to Denmark is also accredited to Norway and Iceland.
Australia has warm relationships with Denmark, Norway and Iceland and is working to build opportunities across the clean energy transition, defence industries and investment.
We are working with our Nordic partners to advance shared priority interests, including on international security, climate action, trade liberalisation, oceans policy, human rights and gender equality.
In July 2023, Australia and Denmark signed a Strategic Partnership Arrangement focused on advancing action on climate change, enhancing the green transition and promoting peace and security in a changing global environment.
In 2024, Danish, Norwegian and Icelandic investment in Australia was worth over $47.5 billion to the Australian economy, bolstering key sectors such as renewable energy and defence industries. Australian investment in these countries reached $19.9 billion.
Mr Vosen is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently Assistant Secretary, Humanitarian Preparedness and Response Branch.
He has previously served overseas as Ambassador to Mongolia and had postings in Laos and Papua New Guinea.
I thank outgoing Ambassador Ms Kerin Ayyalaraju for her contributions to advancing Australia's interests in Denmark, Norway and Iceland since 2021.
