Under the Albanese Government, Queenslanders will get their parcels faster than ever with Australia Post opening its largest air and speed hub at Brisbane Airport today.
Minister for Communications Anika Wells officially opened the Mookin-Yaba Brisbane North Parcel Facility today.
The facility will play a critical role in Australia Post's national parcel network.
It can process up to 250,000 parcels a day, with direct airside access meaning faster delivery for customers, including in regional and remote areas. This stimulates the local economy, supports thousands of businesses and accommodates hundreds of ongoing jobs.
The facility includes dedicated space for biosecurity teams from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the Australian Border Force.
This includes respite rooms that are climate controlled and designed to provide silence and darkness for the hard-working detector dogs.
The Albanese Government values the role of Australia Post in connecting millions of consumers and businesses and is committed to ensuring it keeps pace with evolving community needs.
