Australia's nuclear-powered submarine future will take centre stage at next week's Indian Ocean Defence & Security Conference(Opens in a new tab/window) (IODS26), with the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) set to showcase its growing sovereign capability to more than 4,000 national and international attendees.
Held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 26 to 28 May, IODS26 is one of Australia's premier maritime defence and industry events, bringing together senior leaders, international partners, industry representatives and innovators to advance collaboration on regional security and capability development.
Across the three-day program, ASA will play a prominent role in both the conference and exhibition, highlighting progress across Australia's nuclear-powered submarine enterprise under AUKUS. Engagement will focus on the strategic, technical, workforce and industrial foundations required to deliver and sustain this once-in-a-generation capability.
ASA will contribute to a series of presentations and panel discussions, covering key priorities including Submarine Rotational Force-West, nuclear safety and stewardship, workforce development, and emerging opportunities with AUKUS partners. Senior leaders and subject matter experts from across the enterprise will also contribute to broader discussions on regional maritime security, industrial readiness and long-term capability planning.
ASA will also host an industry workshop and business-to-business networking session, bringing together Australian, US and UK industry, government and AUKUS partners to support supply-chain engagement and connect Australian companies with prime contractors on near and medium-term opportunities. Interested companies can register via ASA's ICN Gateway portal.(Opens in a new tab/window)
At the centre of the exhibition, ASA's stand will serve as a hub for collaboration and engagement. Visitors will be able to explore the agency's mission, gain insight into its stewardship responsibilities for nuclear safety and security, and connect directly with the people shaping Australia's future submarine capability.
ASA will also engage the next generation through its presence at the Navy Life Expo, connecting with students and early career professionals to promote pathways into Defence and the nuclear-powered submarine enterprise.
IODS26 provides a key opportunity to strengthen partnerships, build workforce pipelines and demonstrate Australia's commitment to delivering a safe, secure and sovereign nuclear-powered submarine capability in close partnership with the United States and the United Kingdom.
