Martin Polaschek, Austria's Federal Minister for Education, Science, and Research recently visited IIASA to discuss current research priorities and explore potential opportunities for collaboration between the institute and the Ministry.
Following welcome remarks by IIASA Director General John Schellnhuber and Minister Polaschek, the participants, which included Barbara Heinzl and Alexander Grasspointner, both Policy Advisors in the Cabinet of the Federal Minister, and IIASA Head of Communications and External Relations, Barbara Kreissler, engaged in an open discussion on the founding principles of IIASA, the institute's role as a bridge-builder, and strengthening public understanding of science. All of these aspects are more relevant than ever amidst today's multiple geopolitical crises.
