The Wanaka Police Search and Rescue team, alongside LandSAR Wanaka, Southern Lakes Helicopters, Aspiring Helicopters, and the Aoraki/Mt Cook Alpine Rescue Team, were last night awarded a certificate of achievement by the NZ Search and Rescue Awards.
The award was given for a rescue that took place over several days on Mount Aspiring.
At around 8am on 31 July 2018, a climber was reported overdue in returning from a trip up Mount Aspiring.
