  • The state of the art software builds students' skills and prepares them for an increasingly digital workforce.
  • The innovative initiative is one of 37 actions announced by the Crisafulli Government to reduce red tape for teachers by 25 per cent over four years.
  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future after a decade of decline and neglect under Labor.

Teaching and learning will be revolutionised across Queensland with the innovative education program, Corella, powering up in state schools.

By June 2026, state schools will be able to access the secure, government-owned artificial intelligence (AI) software, which has been specifically designed for Queensland teachers and students.

As part of the Crisafulli Government's election commitment to reduce red tape for teachers by 25 per cent, Corella empowers teachers to leverage AI to support lesson planning and workload management.

Corella is part of 37 red tape reduction actions that remove repetitive paperwork and administration for teachers to give them more time in the classroom focusing on teaching.

Students will also benefit from using the secure AI platform, which supports their development in an increasingly digital world, by allowing them to brainstorm, check, draft, revise, research and summarise information.

The platform is grounded in the Australian Curriculum, with strong safeguards in place to protect users and ensure content is suitable for the school environment.

The Corella expansion follows successful trials in selected state schools and once fully rolled out, it will be available to teachers, teacher aides and leaders, as well as Years 7 to 10 students with parental consent.

Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek said Queensland students would benefit from a well-rounded education that sets them up for success.

"Corella is part of the Crisafulli Government's plan to deliver a world-class education to students while helping to build a workforce for future industries," Minister Langbroek said.

"Corella is a tool for the future and we're embracing this cutting-edge technology to help students learn how to use AI responsibly and think critically about the information they're working with.

"It's important for students to learn this emerging technology and we're balancing these lessons with a back-to-basics focus on lifting literacy, numeracy and NAPLAN results.

"Under the former Labor Government, Queensland students' results dropped below the national average while teachers were burdened with unnecessary administration and red tape.

"This program reduces red tape in state schools, and it's already helping teachers get hours back by streamlining administrative tasks.

"We're delivering a fresh start for schools exactly as we promised."

Woree State High School Principal Maurice Andrejic said the tool has been transformative for both students and teachers during their trial.

"Our Year 9 Digital Technologies students have used Corella to learn coding and develop games, helping them to take ownership of their learning while inspiring creativity and building essential 21st-century skills," Principal Andrejic said.

"Corella has reduced the time our teachers spend on administrative tasks, lesson planning and creating assessments, giving them more time to focus on teaching."
