Award-winning teaching at La Trobe

Three La Trobe staff have been recognised with Australian Awards for University Teaching, each receiving a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.

La Trobe University congratulates three outstanding staff - Dr Amanda Shaker, Prof Darren Henry and Dr Monica Peddle - who each received a, Australian Awards for University Teaching Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.

Dr Amanda Shaker, School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences

Dr Shaker and was awarded a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, in the Early Career Category. She was recognised for the creation of engaging and supportive classroom environments that inspire learning of statistics curriculum among cohorts diverse in size, need and background.

Professor Darren Henry, La Trobe Business School

Professor Henry was awarded a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, in the Law, Economics, Business and Related Studies Category. He was recognised for enhancing student learning, engagement and work-readiness through the integration of authentic, experiential simulation activities into the finance curriculum.

Dr Monica Peddle, School of Nursing and Midwifery

Dr Peddle was awarded a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, in the Biological Sciences, Health and Related Studies Category. She was recognised for pioneering excellence in creating and sustaining an effective, innovative web-based resource to develop nontechnical skills in undergraduate health professional maintaining patient safety.

The Australian Awards for University Teaching were established in 1997 by the Australian Government to celebrate and reward excellence in university teaching. Since then, the Awards have become a valued form of recognition for university educators Australia wide.
