Get ready to ride Ballarat, because Biketober is back for 2026 and registrations are now open.
Whether you're riding to work, exploring local trails, enjoying family rides or challenging colleagues to clock up kilometres, Biketober is all about getting active, having fun and making cycling part of your everyday routine.
This is the fourth year the City of Ballarat has participated in the annual Love to Ride event, with all registered riders able to track their kilometres and their riding routes through the Love to Ride app or website.
This not only helps participants monitor their progress, it enables the City of Ballarat to see where the local riding "hot spots" are - a handy tool for planning future paths and trails.
The City of Ballarat continues to invest in active transport infrastructure through the implementation of its Integrated Transport Action Plan and Active Transport Program, helping create safer and more connected routes for people choosing to walk, ride or roll around the municipality.
Acting Ballarat Mayor, Cr Ben Taylor said Biketober was an opportunity for residents to experience the benefits of cycling while connecting with their community and environment.
"Spring is one of the most beautiful times of year to be out and about in Ballarat and Biketober is a great excuse to see the city from a different perspective," Cr Tayor said.
"Whether you're riding through our parks, along shared paths or discovering a neighbourhood you've never explored before, cycling offers a unique way to experience the places that make Ballarat special."
Cr Taylor said participating in Biketober could also support healthier lifestyles and more sustainable transport choices.
"Every trip taken by bike instead of by car can make a positive difference," he said.
"Cycling is good for our physical and mental wellbeing, reduces traffic congestion and supports our goal of creating a more sustainable and connected city.
"The best part is that anyone can get involved. You can ride with family and friends, encourage your workplace to take part, set personal goals and even go into the running to win prizes through Love to Ride."
All Biketober participants have an opportunity to win $4,000 to spend on a holiday of choice. Participants who register before 1 October have a chance of winning $1,000 cash.
