Band in Park: Twilight and Sunday Series

City of Darwin is again hosting a series of free music events for families in parks across the municipality, from June 18 to August 5, 2020 - Band in the Park: Twilight and Sunday Series.

The events will provide an opportunity for the community to come together in City of Darwin parks and enjoy the Dry Season, whilst listening to local musicians.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the Band in the Park Twilight Series and Band in the Park Sunday Series were likely to be extremely popular this year.

"This is the second year City of Darwin has hosted Band in the Park events," he said "and we expect these to be even more popular, as we have added a second series."

"I expect there will be many families wanting to get outside and enjoy themselves as COVID-19 restrictions continue to lift."

"We have doubled the number of events and locations this year, and will showcasing a variety of local bands and ensembles - the Australian Army Band Darwin, Arafura Wind Ensemble and Darwin City Brass Band."

The Band in the Park Twilight Series will be held on weekday evenings from 6-7pm at various parks with all Band in the Park Sundays Series events held on Sundays at the Nightcliff Foreshore from 5-6.30pm.

Vicktor Petroff, President, Arafura Wind Ensemble said "We're really excited to be taking part in the Band in the Park series this year."

"Taking music to the community is something the Arafura Wind Ensemble are really passionate about and the

City of Darwin program is just what we all need right now - providing a great way to get out locally with friends and family, relax and enjoy some great live music."

People are asked to bring their own food and beverage, chairs and picnic blankets and to dispose of any rubbish thoughtfully.
