Cricket players in Bayswater now have modern training facilities thanks to the renewal of practice nets at Marie Wallace Bayswater Oval.
Delivered as part of Council's annual Capital Works Program, the project included replacing outdated infrastructure with new net frames and netting, upgrading synthetic and turf wicket practice surfaces, and completing minor civil and drainage improvements.
The upgraded facility provides a durable and fit-for-purpose training space that supports skill development and ongoing participation for local cricket clubs and the wider community.
This renewal was made possible through a collaborative funding effort from Council, the Victorian Government and the Australian Government's Local Roads and Infrastructure Program.
Construction began in January 2025 and completed in October 2025, ensuring the nets were ready for the summer cricket season.
Council's Capital Works Program continues to deliver projects like this every year, improving local facilities to create spaces where everyone can stay active and connected. Stay updated on infrastructure projects in your neighbourhood using our interactive map .
