B.C. Students Claim Victory in National Video Contest

Today, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) announced the winners of the national 2026 Focus on Safety Youth Video Contest.

First place: "The Book of Worksafe Wisdom"

Sponsored by CCOHS, the contest challenges students and youth in Canada to create original videos that show the importance of working safely on the job. By entering the contest, participants and their affiliated organizations, institutions, or schools are given the opportunity to win cash prizes, and provincial/territorial, regional, and national recognition.

The videos were evaluated by a panel of judges including:

  • Jan Chappel, Senior Technical Specialist, CCOHS
  • Daly Koffi, Program Officer (Acting), Communication and Information, Canadian Commission for UNESCO
  • Brandon Meawasige, Vice President, Communications and Marketing, Indspire
  • Jonathan Paredes, Alternate Young Worker Representative, PSAC Regional Council
