Beach Hotel Sale Strengthens Confidence In Whyalla

SA Gov

The sale of the Beach Hotel in Whyalla to South Australian developer Lofty Property Group has been welcomed by the State Government as a further sign of confidence in the city's future and continued private investment during the steelworks administration process.

Located on Whyalla's foreshore, the Beach Hotel is a well-known venue and accommodation site. South Australian-owned Lofty Property Group plans to refurbish the property, supporting local jobs, adding to the visitor economy and signalling strong confidence in Whyalla's long-term future.

It follows co-ordinated State, Commonwealth and Council investment in the foreshore, including the new Surf Life Saving Club, café and Splash & Play Plaza, which are reshaping Whyalla's waterfront.

The sale process was conducted independently by the administrators of OneSteel Manufacturing, with settlement expected later this month.

Sale proceeds will remain with the administrators to support ongoing steelworks operations and protect business continuity during the administration period.

This is a positive step for Whyalla at an important time. Businesses are choosing to invest in Whyalla because they see its future.

A much-loved venue will be brought back to life, new jobs will be created, and the foreshore will continue its transformation into a genuine destination for locals and visitors.

It is encouraging to see a South Australian business lead this next stage of renewal.

As put by Member for Giles, Eddie Hughes MP

This investment will help activate the foreshore, attract more visitors and support local hospitality and small business.

Refurbishing the Beach Hotel will bring energy and pride to the precinct and the community.

We are committed to standing with workers, suppliers and families as Whyalla continues to move forward.

As put by City of Whyalla Mayor Phill Stone

The Beach Hotel has always been part of Whyalla's story and seeing it set for renewal is welcome news for the city.

Our foreshore has taken major steps forward over the past few years, and private investment building on that momentum is exactly what we want to see.

We look forward to the Beach Hotel returning as a vibrant part of the community.
