The NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (NSW DPIRD) will host this year's annual 'Back to Belgenny' event on Saturday, 8 August, 2026.
As Belgenny Farm's largest community event, this historic celebration welcomes more than 2,000 visitors annually.
Visitors are invited to gather at the historic Camden site to enjoy a family-friendly day celebrating Belgenny Farm's unique agricultural heritage and its connection to pioneering pastoralists John and Elizabeth Macarthur.
The Macarthur family played an important role in Australia's early agricultural development, including the export of wool in commercial quantities, the establishment of NSW's first commercial vineyard and early advances in the dairy industry, including the state's first rotolactor.
NSW DPIRD Director of Education, Darren Bayley said the event offers a rare opportunity to experience living history in one of Australia's most significant agricultural locations.
"Back to Belgenny is a chance for visitors to experience the stories, skills and traditions that helped shape agriculture in NSW, while enjoying a great family day out," Mr Bayley said.
"From sheep shearing, working dogs and blacksmithing to animal encounters and the very popular tractor rides to the historic cemetery, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
"It's a wonderful opportunity to connect people with Belgenny Farm's remarkable history and celebrate the enduring contribution of agriculture to our community."
The day will see a range of activities including demonstrations from the 73rd Regiment of the Red Coat soldiers, sheep shearing and sheep dog trials, animal encounters, and traditional crafts such as blacksmithing. Visitors can also enjoy the very popular free tractor rides to the historic cemetery where 11 family members, including John and Elizabeth Macarthur, are buried.
The day also features market stalls and food vans, including a Drovers Camp hosted by the 'Friends of Belgenny', Devonshire Teas served by the iconic Country Women's Association (CWA), and lunch available in the Granary by Camden Park Catering Company.
Mr Bayley said visitors will be immersed in the stories and skills that shaped Australia's agricultural foundations, with activities and demonstrations designed to appeal to all ages.
"Each year, Back to Belgenny brings people together to celebrate the site's history, enjoy its unique setting and learn more about the people and practices that helped shape farming in NSW," Mr Bayley said.
"We encourage families, history enthusiasts and the wider community to come along and be part of this special day."
Back to Belgenny is a ticketed event held at Belgenny Farm, located at 100 Elizabeth Macarthur Ave, Camden South and is suitable for all ages. Gates open at 11:00am, with activities concluding at 3:00pm.
