Love them or hate them, magpies are part of our natural environment, and although we're only just into spring, reports of swooping magpies are already starting to come in.
While these protective parents can upset a morning walk or bike ride, it's important to remember that magpies are protected native wildlife which means councils have limited powers to intervene.
Council can help by installing warning signs, creating temporary detours and monitoring reported hotspots.
