Wollondilly Council

Birrahlee Park in Yanderra was officially opened yesterday by Wollondilly Shire Council Mayor Matt Gould and Nathaniel Smith, State Member for Wollondilly.

Angus Taylor, Federal Member for Hume, Deputy Mayor Matt Deeth, Councillors Paul Rogers and Suzy Brandstater along with community members, joined in the celebration by enjoying a BBQ (thanks to Bargo Men's Shed) and trying out the new playground equipment.

Nathaniel Smith, State Member for Wollondilly said "I'm proud that we could fund such a high-quality space for children and families to have fun and relax. This is just one of a number of exciting projects to promote healthy living and improve quality of life for the community."

Mayor Matt Gould said "It was a perfect day to open Birrahlee Park yesterday and to see the local children enjoying their upgraded playground.

"We took this project to the community for feedback on the new additions and I'm pleased that we could make this happen, thanks to $250,000 of funding under the NSW Government's Public Space Legacy Program. A big thanks also to the Bargo Men's Shed for coming along and cooking the BBQ for today."

The NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program demonstrates state and local government working together to create a legacy of high quality public open spaces that communities can be proud of.

The playground upgrades include: new exercise station, park furniture, refurbished multi-use court, new fencing, BBQ and new playground equipment.
