UK technology and engineering consultancy BJSS is opening an office in Australia, its first location in the Asia-Pacific region. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, the office will support the company's existing Australian, regional and international clients.

BJSS expects to hire up to 150 highly skilled IT consultants for the Melbourne operation, who will support the company's technology, engineering, consulting, cloud, data and artificial intelligence services.

'We're excited to continue our international expansion by opening our first office in the APAC region,' says Amir Soufizadeh, Head of International Expansion, BJSS.

'Melbourne provides a significant opportunity for us to develop closer ties with our global clients and establish new relationships with local organisations. Melbourne is known as Australia's technology hub and is home to some of the world's leading tech talent. We're looking forward to getting started.'

Victorian Minister for Economic Development Tim Pallas welcomed the announcement.

'Securing the confidence – and investment – of a global tech company such as BJSS is great news for Victoria,' he says.

'As Australia's No.1 tech city, having BJSS set up its first Asia-Pacific office here in Melbourne will ensure they benefit from our culture of innovation and highly skilled talent, while also strengthening our capabilities in areas such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing.'

Austrade provided BJSS with information on establishing a business in Australia and the industry ecosystem. Austrade also introduced BJSS to the Victorian Government when the company was assessing site locations, and to Australia's Global Business and Talent Attraction Taskforce to discuss visa pathways.

Established in 1993, BJSS is a technology and engineering consultancy of over 1,500 staff members. Melbourne will be the company's 14th location, and will support other BJSS locations in the UK, US and Europe.
