Blinken, Shoukry Discuss US-Egypt Relations in Phone Call 2 June

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry about the proposal to achieve an enduring peace in Gaza. The Secretary emphasized the importance of realizing a full and complete ceasefire, securing the release of all hostages, and surging humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza. He reiterated that the proposal is in the interests of both Israelis and Palestinians. The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for Egypt's critical role in working to broker an agreement and for facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in need throughout the conflict. He called for Hamas to accept the deal without delay, underscoring the benefits the deal would provide to the Palestinian people.
