Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Despi O'Connor announced Blue Mini Café in Rosebud as the overall winner of 2021 Best Bites People's Choice Awards.

More than 120 customers nominated their favourite food business. A panel of seven independent judges comprising representatives from the Shire, Peninsula Health and the Disability Advisory Committee assessed the nominees based on how well their customers felt they performed in the Best Bites categories, including food safety, healthy eating, sustainability, reduction of tobacco/alcohol and access for all.

Phat Yaya's Mornington, Homeground Café Mornington, Lilo Café Mornington, R&K Café Bittern, TreAnd at Baxter Valley Estate as well as Spudalicious Hastings were highly commended.

All of the winners and nominated businesses will be featured in the 2021 Best Bites Food Guide, published later this year. The online guide lists local food businesses scoring more than 95 per cent in their food safety assessment and providing excellence across one or more of the Best Bites categories.
