Bluewater, Toolakea, Saunders Beach Residents Ready

Residents at Bluewater, Bluewater Park, Toolakea and Saunders Beach need to prepare now for heavy rain and possible flooding.

Heavy to locally intense rainfall may lead to Bluewater Creek reaching moderate flood levels.

Prepare your home and yourself. Make sure your emergency kit is prepared. Make sure you have an evacuation plan.

Decide what you will do if flooding starts. If you are at risk of flooding, relocate to shelter in a safer place with friends or family.

Get and fill sandbags in case you need to block doors to stop water getting inside. Sand and sandbags are available from Bluewater Community Centre, Mount Low Parkway, Lou Litster Park and Ross River Dam.

If you find it hard to move quickly, start getting ready now in case conditions worsen and you need to leave. Pack a bag with enough clothes for three days and your important documents. Call your family, friends or support service.

The situation is evolving and you may need to leave earlier. Leaving early is safer than waiting.

If you are camping, start packing up your campsite. Be ready to move people, pets, camping gear and vehicles to higher ground.

If you have livestock, move them to higher ground. Block access to low-lying fields, shelters or other places near creeks and rivers. Provide lots of food and clean water in a safe place for your livestock. Make sure your livestock has brands or tags.

For non-life threatening emergencies, call the SES on 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies call triple-0.

To stay up to date visit the Emergency Management and Disaster Dashboard, listen to local radio or phone 13 48 10.
