A body has been located in the search for a swimmer last seen at Maroubra at the weekend.
Emergency services were called to Maroubra Beach about 4pm on Sunday 1 February 2026 and were told a swimmer – a 30-year-old man - had failed to return to shore.
A search was initiated involving officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command, assisted by the Marine Area Command, LifeSaver21 helicopter, Surf Life Saving, and Marine Rescue NSW, but was unsuccessful.
The search resumed about 8am today (Tuesday 3 February 2026), and about 12.20pm, the body of a man was located by NSW Water Police, with the assistance of Surf Life Savers and Randwick Council Life Savers.
While a formal identification process is yet to be completed, the body is believed to be that of the missing swimmer.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
