Bombala, Delegate Launch Waste & Recycling Bin Survey

Rubbish and recycling bin sitting on the kerb outside a residential free-standing home.

Council is conducting a random survey of kerbside waste and recycling bins in Bombala and Delegate during March and April 2026. Specialist contractors will collect anonymised data about the condition of local bins and how they are being used by residents.

Bins randomly selected for the survey will be emptied as normal on bin day, with their contents taken to a waste facility for analysis.

No identifying information will be recorded about any individual bin or household.

The collected data will be used to identify where Council can improve its waste and recycling services, education programs, and to measure local household recycling rates and the rate of recycling contamination in Bombala and Delegate.

No dates will be announced to make sure no one can change how they're using their bins just for the survey. The data is only worth collecting if it's real and accurate, and no one will be getting in trouble if contractors find the wrong thing in the wrong bin.

Council will share the results of the survey at a later date.

Residents with questions or concerns about the upcoming survey should contact Council's resource and waste team on 1300 345 345 or at
