The Albanese Labor Government is continuing to support and celebrate First Nations musicians and bands across the country with applications now open for the Indigenous Contemporary Music Program.
The program offers training, skills and opportunities to support ongoing income and employment in the music industry, while celebrating and empowering First Nations music within the broader Australian community.
Organisations that are fully or partially owned, governed, staffed or advised by First Nations people are encouraged to apply.
Minister for the Arts, Tony Burke, said grants awarded under this $500,000 round of the program would help create pathways for First Nations musicians through professional industry-based opportunities.
"Music, dance and song are central to the stories and identity of First Nations people going back to the first sunrise," Minister Burke said.
"It's critical we recognise and respect the crucial place of those stories at the centre of Australia's arts and culture.
"That's why the first pillar of Revive - our National Cultural Policy - is First Nations First.
"This funding is a practical boost to First Nations musicians - offering the opportunity for training, mentoring, performing, recording and promotion."
The program is inclusive of First Nations performers in urban, regional and remote communities performing and recording in Australia and overseas.
