Boosting Data Exchange in GCC Countries

Strengthening SDG data exchange and modernizing statistical systems across the Gulf were at the heart of a regional workshop held in Oman, from 25 to 27 August, bringing together experts from GCC countries through a partnership between ESCWA, the United Nations Statistics Division and the GCC Statistical Center.

Through hands-on training, participants learned more about the Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange (SDMX), using tools and standards that support the transformation of national SDG data and metadata into standardized formats and enable more efficient exchange with regional and international organizations.

The workshop also fostered peer learning and the exchange of good practices, contributing to greater data interoperability, stronger statistical systems and higher-quality data for evidence-based policymaking and progress towards the SDGs.
