Boosting Sexual, Reproductive Health Access in Atlantic Canada

Health Canada

The Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Fund was established through Budget 2021 with an initial investment of $45 million and a further $36 million in Budget 2023, to support a wide range of evidence-informed and innovative projects that address the pressing SRH needs of underserved communities in Canada, such as members of 2SLGBTQI+ communities, Indigenous and racialized people, newcomers to Canada, women, and youth.

Health Canada is now providing more than $700,000 in new funding to the Sexual Health Nova Scotia Society and the Association of New Canadians for their projects.

Establishment of a Sexual, Gender, and Reproductive Health Registry & Warmline for Nova Scotia

Sexual Health Nova Scotia Society

Funding: $454,123

This project will establish a warmline (a virtual provincial database of service providers supported by system navigators) to facilitate timely and early linkages to sexual, gender, and reproductive healthcare (SGRH) and build primary healthcare provider capacity on these services by increasing access to SGRH learning. This project will improve connections to sexual, gender, and reproductive health care for underserved communities including women, 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, Indigenous people, Black and racialized communities. It will also engage health system and community partners to promote the warmline, demonstrate its effectiveness and explore sustainability to improve access to SGRH care in Nova Scotia.
