Gold Coasters – don't be alarmed if you spot a few empty pedestals around town, our favourite blue koala Borobi is heading off for a well-earned health check.
The City is giving all eight Borobi statues located across the city a thorough inspection after a bit too much sun, surf and sea breeze.
"Our Borobis have been standing strong for years but even icons need a little TLC," Mayor Tom Tate said.
"A health check is important for the safety of Borobi and the community.
"We know Borobi means a lot to the Gold Coast so we're making sure he gets the best care possible."
One Borobi has already been whisked away from Broadbeach after feeling a bit wobbly and two more from Surfers Paradise have gone for their check-up just in time for the Pacific Airshow.
The rest will get their turn in the coming weeks.
