Boy Dragged by Car in Blacktown, Police Press Charges

A man will face court today charged after a teenager was allegedly dragged by a car through Sydney's west overnight.

Police have been told the incident began shortly before 7pm (Friday 15 September 2023), when a 15-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man, who was sitting in his car, began arguing in Forge Street, Blacktown.

Police will allege in court that as the man drove away, the boy was dragged by the vehicle along Sunnyholt and Vardys roads before the youth fell from the vehicle outside a service station in Vardys Road.

The boy was taken to Blacktown Hospital before being transferred to The Children's Hospital at Westmead, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a vehicle was stopped on Sentry Drive at Stanhope Gardens a short time later.

The 19-year-old male driver was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station has now been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and supply a prohibited drug.

The man, from Riverstone, has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 16 September 2023).

As investigations are continuing, police are appealing to anyone who may have seen a red Mazda 3 in this vicinity about the relevant time, or who has dashcam vision, to call Blacktown Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
