Brand New Campbelltown Secondary School and Special School to Commence in 2022

St Peter's Anglican Grammar

The Macarthur region's leading Christian Independent Preparatory School, St Peter's, is now offering Secondary education with the introduction of Year 7 in 2022.

By 2027, the School will offer local families a Prep - Year 12 campus right in the heart of Campbelltown.

Headmaster Brendan Gorman explains, "This has been a long time coming and ensures the ongoing success of our school moving forward. It gives parents the assurance of a Prep to 12 education here at St Peter's. It is our intent that we will become an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Years 7 to 10 and the IB Diploma Program (DP) in Years 11 and 12."

A new name for 2022

From 2022, St Peter's Anglican Primary School name will be changed to reflect the new secondary offering. St Peter's will remain, honouring the near 40 year history connection with the Parish of St Peter's. Anglican will remain, as the School has always been and will always be unashamedly a Christian school. Primary School however, will need to change and will be replaced with a single word 'Grammar'. The new school will be called St Peter's Anglican Grammar.

"Our new name highlights the academic offerings and rigor our exceptional staff aim to deliver to all students" says Mr Gorman.

A new Secondary School – St Peter's Anglican Grammar

St Peter's Anglican Grammar has been given the rare opportunity of a blank canvas to develop a secondary experience that is different from other schools.

"Research continues to show that students learn in a variety of ways and flexibility in approach is key. As a result, students will learn in a balance of disciplinary, interdisciplinary, collaborative and independent opportunities. Secondary School at St Peter's Grammar will look different" explains Mr Gorman.

Centrally located in the heart of Campbelltown, and just a short stroll from the Railway Station, the St Peter's home campus will be the base for student learning in secondary, acknowledging that students will access facilities and spaces across the South West.

"Leveraging different learning spaces from around our local area will be a key point of difference to our offering. Our aim will be to give students a richer, more fulfilled learning experience. Coupled with the IB program, we aim to prepare students for future study, work placement of choice and fantastic career opportunities."

St Peter's Anglican Grammar will be applying for candidacy to deliver the MYP (Middle Years Programme) of the International Baccalaureate, alongside the existing PYP (Primary Years Programme) in Prep – Year 6.

"Through the IB, we know that students are given a unique education that helps them develop strong academic, social, and emotional characteristics," says Mr Gorman.

A new Special School – St Peter's Heart

St Peter's are also excited to share that St Peter's Heart, a new Special School, will also be commencing in 2022. St Peter's Heart will provide quality, Christian education for students with moderate intellectual disability and/or moderate autism spectrum disorder. The school will include very small classes of between 7 and 10 students with specially trained teachers and assistance.

"The Gospel compels us to care for all and to share the good news of Jesus with as many as possible and I am thrilled to be leading this new venture as part of the St Peter's family."
