Nairobi, 1 June 2026 The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) today named GRAMMY-nominated Brazilian music superstar Alok Achkar Peres Petrillo, known simply as Alok, as a Global Goodwill Ambassador.
The announcement coincides with the launch of UNEPs 2026 World Environment Day campaign (June 5), which features Aloks global hit 2022 single Deep Down, a multi-platinum dance anthem that amassed hundreds of millions of streams worldwide, as part of a global movement-led activation uniting audiences around climate action through music, voice and participation.
The campaign involves either reproducing an official choreography or participants answering the question "How low can we go? How low can we keep global warming to safeguard our planet for future generations?". Launching alongside the announcement, the campaigns hero video brings this concept to life, featuring participants around the world engaging in the movement. Alok joins the initiative with original video content, inviting his global audience to take part and amplify the message across platforms. These videos will be compiled and will be part of a global music video set to be released on June 5.
Alok is consistently ranked among the worlds top DJs and producers, with multiple awards and two Latin GRAMMY nominations. He has more than 7.3 billion Spotify streams and one of the largest social followings in electronic music. His work spans music, culture and social impact, including long-standing philanthropic efforts focused on Indigenous communities across the Amazon.
Nature, and the wisdom and strength of Brazils Indigenous peoples, have shaped my life and my music, said Alok. Ive experienced how inseparable we are from the natural world. We depend on a stable climate and the richness of life around us. Being named a UNEP Goodwill Ambassador is a responsibility I carry deeply. With Rave The World launching at the same time, I hope to bring people together not just to celebrate, but to reconnect with each other and the planet. Whether its through a simple movement or a shared moment on a dancefloor, we can all be part of something bigger.
Aloks work increasingly focuses on the intersection of music, culture and environmental impact. His UNESCO-recognized and GRAMMY-nominated album and philanthropic project, The Future Is Ancestral, was developed over three years through Instituto Alok in collaboration with more than 50 musicians from eight Brazilian Indigenous communities. The project aims to preserve cultural heritage while raising awareness of the essential role Indigenous communities play in environmental sustainability, and has been presented globally at the United Nations during Climate Week, the GRAMMY Museum and the Global Citizen Festival. It also contributed to Alok being named to the TIME100 Climate list.
Through the Alok Institute, founded in 2020, the artist has already donated nearly 8 million to social and environmental initiatives in Brazil, Africa, and India. His nature preservation projects take place in the Amazon and three other Brazilian biomes, contributing to the restoration of 3 millions square meters of native forests an area equivalent to more than 300 soccer fields - with 400 thousand seedlings planted .
In collaboration with UNEP and partner organization Sounds Right For Nature, he is also releasing a new track featuring Indigenous voices, with proceeds supporting conservation efforts in critical regions worldwide.
Launching on World Environment Day, Aloks new live performance concept Rave The World will debut on June 5, 2026 at Londons O2 Academy Brixton, marking a key cultural moment that brings the campaign into a shared, real-world experience. Inspired by the original principles of rave culture, unity, peace, love and respect, and reimagined for a global audience, the project brings people together across borders through music and collective action.

His art and advocacy have already reached millions, and together we can inspire even greater awareness and action.
Alok was named to the TIME100 Climate list (2025) and is the founder of Instituto Alok, which works closely with Indigenous communities including the Yawanaw and Huni Kuin peoples. Through partnerships he has contributed more than US$10 million to environmental and cultural initiatives.
