Breaking Ground On Newman Youth And Community Hub

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Construction on the Newman Youth and Community Hub is officially underway, marking a major milestone for sport, recreation and community engagement across East Pilbara.

Once complete, the hub will include a community library, youth centre, music recording studio, community meeting rooms, creche and playgrounds, multi-purpose sports court, community garden and seed bank.

This major community infrastructure project will bring youth, community, recreation and learning services together in one central, purpose-built facility.

The $33.5 million project is jointly funded, with $15 million from the Albanese Government, $7.5 million from the Western Australian Government, $4.7 million from Lotterywest and $6.3 million from the Shire of East Pilbara.

The Hub responds to the growing and diverse needs of the Newman community by providing modern, flexible facilities and improving access to programs, services and safe spaces that enhance wellbeing.

The Shire of East Pilbara also launched its 'Resilient by Design: Building a Sustainable East Pilbara' initiative at the bub groundbreaking ceremony.

The initiative represents the shire's long-term approach to coordinating infrastructure and community investment across the East Pilbara, with a focus on strengthening liveability, resilience and long-term sustainability.
