Cricket Victoria is proud to congratulate Brett Loats of Leopold Cricket Club, named Kookaburra Volunteer of the Month for December 2025 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to grassroots cricket.
For the past 10 years, Brett has been an integral member of Leopold Cricket Club, with his impact most strongly felt in his role as Woolworths Cricket Blast Coordinator.
Four years ago, Leopold's Blasters program was on the brink, with just 12 participants and facing the possibility of folding. Thanks to Brett's vision, dedication and meticulous planning, the program has since flourished to 108 participants in season 2025/26 and continues to grow.
Brett's commitment goes far beyond numbers. He ensures every child's needs are met and that all new families feel welcomed and supported from the moment they join Leopold Cricket Club.
His passion and care have helped build a strong, inclusive environment that has attracted families from across Geelong, with some travelling up to 30 minutes each week to be part of the program – a true testament to the quality experience Brett has created.
In addition to his work with Blasters, Brett also serves as a club committee member and 5th XI captain, providing leadership, guidance and support across all areas of the club. His willingness to contribute wherever needed has made him an invaluable part of the Leopold Cricket Club community.
Leopold Cricket Club would be at a loss without Brett's dedication and leadership, and his efforts perfectly embody the spirit of volunteering in cricket.
Cricket Victoria congratulates Brett Loats on this outstanding achievement and thanks him for his continued contributions to our game.
Brett will receive a $200 Kookaburra Cricket Voucher as Volunteer of the Month for December.
