Building Jobs In Baltimore

Johns Hopkins University

The HopkinsLocal team, alongside Whiting-Turner and Mahogany Construction, hosted the first Baltimore City Talent Hub Job Fair on Thursday, June 5, at Henderson-Hopkins School in Eager Park. The purpose of the job fair was to connect Baltimore City job seekers with contractors, subcontractors, and wrap-around services in order to start or grow their careers in the construction industry. Nearly 100 people attended, seeking employment from 24 construction firms and wrap-around services from over 20 community organizations.

Participating construction firms ranged from general contractors employed on Hopkins capital projects, like DPR, to trade partners, like Windsor Electric. Participating community organizations included Turnaround Tuesday, which offers reentry support for returning citizens, and Project JumpStart, which provides pre-apprenticeship training. Baltimore City Councilman Jermaine Jones offered words of inspiration and support to all attendees.
