- DevelopmentWA to release new 55ha residential development near Bunbury
- Land release to provide for up to 300 homes
The Cook Labor Government, through DevelopmentWA, is preparing to release more than 55 hectares of zoned residential development land to market in the South West.
The land located in Usher, within the City of Bunbury, will deliver a substantial increase in local residential land supply to support housing growth.
DevelopmentWA will be releasing this land as an attractive opportunity for an incoming developer.
The planning for the site has been recently reviewed to ensure that it meets modern development requirements and the Water Corporation has confirmed funding to deliver the required upgrades, subject to agreement with the future developer.
DevelopmentWA is working to release this land to market imminently, providing developers an opportunity to deliver more than 300 new residential lots to the South West.
As stated by Planning and Lands Minister John Carey:
"Our Government is working to accelerate the delivery of housing, including through land releases across Western Australia.
"This release creates development opportunity for new homes in Bunbury, and through DevelopmentWA, the land will be fast-tracked to the market."
As stated by Water and South West Minister Don Punch:
"As Bunbury and the wider South West region continues to grow, so does the need for more housing.
"The land at Usher, once developed, has the potential to provide up to 300 new homes and will help to address housing needs in the area.
"I am thrilled this development that I strongly advocated for has come to fruition."
