Support grows for Bundaberg QLD families experiencing cancer with appointment of new McGrath Cancer Care Nurse
The Bundaberg community will receive a boost in cancer support with the appointment of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, Nicola Davis, specialising in care for people experiencing colorectal cancer. This brings the total number of McGrath Cancer Care Nurses in the area to two, alongside the existing role supporting people and their families experiencing breast cancer.
With around 1 in 2 people diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and over 160,000 people diagnosed with cancer in Australia this year there is a substantial need for specialist cancer care provided by McGrath Cancer Care Nurses to support people across Australia with any type of cancer.
Ryan Barlow, McGrath Foundation CEO, said the new nurse will provide free care and support for individuals and their families in the Bundaberg community.

Nicola Davis brings more than 30 years' experience as a registered nurse, along with post graduate qualifications in oncology nursing. Based at Bundaberg Cancer Care Centre, she brings a wealth of experience and compassion to her new role:
"In my role, I can support individuals and their families with colorectal cancer with the assistance of the McGrath Model of Care, which addresses all aspects of a cancer diagnosis. It is so important when supporting a patient through a cancer diagnosis that we care for all aspects of well-being not just the physical implications."
