The Bureau of Meteorology has delivered its latest update to the website, improving the 7-day forecast display, enhancing the rain radar map and making it easier to find local weather information.
The update responds directly to community feedback, focusing on practical improvements to commonly used services.
Bureau of Meteorology CEO Dr Stuart Minchin says the website team is constantly working to make the website more accessible to the community.
"This update reflects community feedback on the forecast layout, rain radar information and more ways to find local weather," Dr Minchin said.
Rain radar and weather maps have been enhanced with the addition of a new radar coverage layer, helping users understand where radar images are most reliable and where coverage may be limited.
Desktop and laptop users can now also zoom maps using mouse controls, and map legends have been made easier to find.
"We know the community values access to radar images during storms and severe weather," Dr Minchin said.
"Showing our radar coverage helps people better interpret what they're seeing, particularly in areas further from radar sites."
The website search experience has been enhanced, allowing users to search by postcode as well as by district, state and territory, providing an alternative way to access local forecasts.
Forecast information has been improved, with today's forecast now included in the 7-day forecast view.
Forecast days and dates are now displayed in the forecast location's local time zone, reducing confusion for users accessing forecasts from different parts of Australia.
Flood warnings have been updated to clearly identify when a warning has been reissued and why.
"We will continue to deliver regular website updates guided by community feedback, so please keep telling us what you like, and what improvements you would like to see," Dr Minchin said.
