Fourteen local students are about to start their university studies on the right note with financial support from Logan City Council and other South East Queensland businesses and organisations.
Fourteen local students are about to start their university studies on the right note with financial support from Logan City Council and other South East Queensland businesses and organisations.
The $5000 Tertiary Education Bursaries are awarded annually to City of Logan students starting full-time undergraduate studies in that year.
Acting Mayor, Councillor Natalie Willcocks, said the successful recipients for 2023 had the world at their feet after finishing Year 12 last year.
"As a former teacher, I was always so proud to see students achieving big things in life after school," Cr Willcocks said.
"For some families, the costs associated with further study can be quite expensive.
"Council coordinates the bursary program to give a helping hand to students throughout their studies, and we thank our funding partners for their support."
This year's recipients*, who have all been accepted into university courses, are:
- Taylah Kidd of Springwood, Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Griffith University
- Divina Nyirabisabo of Marsden, Bachelor of Health Sciences at UQ
- Lana Al Khori of Loganlea, Bachelor of Physiotherapy at UQ
- Libby Hamilton of Bahrs Scrub, Bachelor of Nursing at USQ
- Tierney Lot of Meadowbrook, Bachelor of Mathematics/Master of Teaching at QUT
- Karam Sabra of Loganlea, Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Information Technology at UQ
- Fadi Salibi of Loganlea, Bachelor of Physiotherapy at UQ
- Alexander Saffigna-Hayes of Forestdale, Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments at QUT
