Bush fire in Butler

Strike Force Vulcan officers are investigating bushfire in the Kahanna Park located on Kahana Parkway in Butler on Tuesday, 3 March 2020.

Around 10am, Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and Police were call to the fire which burn 3.5 hectares of bushland and caused the evacuation of nearby schools.

DFES extinguished the fire before it spread to nearby homes and schools.

Investigators wish to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious people or activity, or has dash-cam vision of the area around the fire between 9.30am and 3pm.

Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
