  • Part of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to deliver quality infrastructure and services across the State

The Cook Labor Government is delivering for Perth's south-east, with the new Byford Bike Pump Track and upgraded Byford Skate Park now complete and ready for the community.

Backed by a combined $2.14 million in Western Australian Government funding, these projects are providing modern, high-quality spaces that will keep local young people, families and riders of all abilities active and connected.

The new Byford Bike Pump Track at Briggs Park has been delivered through a $1.34 million investment, featuring a purpose-built pump track for intermediate and advanced riders, as well as jump lines, shade shelters and seating.

An additional $800,000 has supported Stage 2 upgrades to the Byford Skate Park, delivering an expanded skating area, new elements, and improved lighting and seating to create a more vibrant and welcoming space.

These upgrades respond to strong demand for accessible recreational facilities in one of Western Australia's fastest-growing communities.

Both projects deliver on the WA Government's 2021 election commitments and form part of the broader PlayOn WA initiative, which is guiding investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure across the State.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:

"My government is committed to ensuring Western Australians live active, healthy lifestyles, and central to that is delivering quality recreational infrastructure all over our State.

"Through projects such as the new Byford Bike Pump Track and upgraded Byford Skate Park, not only are we encouraging active lifestyles, but a broader sense of local community in the area.

"Delivering on this Labor election commitment meets growing demand for these exciting projects across Perth's south-eastern suburbs.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:

"Through our PlayOn WA initiative, our government is delivering modern, high-quality facilities that give people more opportunities to get active and spend time outdoors.

"Byford is growing quickly, and it's important we continue to invest in infrastructure that keeps pace with that growth and supports local families to stay active.

"With a new bike track and expanded skate park, these upgrades create spaces that young people can enjoy, build skills and stay connected for years to come."

As stated by Darling Range MLA Hugh Jones:

"This is a fantastic outcome for Byford and the wider Darling Range community, delivering the kind of sporting facilities locals have been calling for.

"This is about making sure our community has access to safe, modern and inclusive spaces to stay active and engaged, and this new bike track and upgraded skate park are a huge boost for our growing suburbs.

"These facilities give young people in Byford more opportunities to get outdoors, build skills and be part of an active local community."
