The expansion of a Cairns engineering business servicing industries across Northern Australia will deliver a jobs boost to Far North Queensland while bolstering manufacturing supply chains.
With funding from the Queensland Government's Industry Partnership Program (IPP), Cashcor Engineering will be home to two revamped metal manufacturing and fabrication workshops.
The project will create 33 jobs and unlock opportunities for the Cairns-based company to grow its supply chains in defence and marine industries.
New specialist metal fabrication equipment will improve product precision and speed of delivery to its customers, with new staff offices and amenities also being built on-site.
The expansion will continue to diversify the region's economy and position local businesses to benefit from Queensland and Australian Government initiatives such as the Cairns Marine Precinct - Common User Facility.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Cashcor Engineering anticipates 33 new jobs will be created over the coming decade.
Founded more than 40 years ago, the company provides niche metal manufacturing and engineering services to bolster local content in industries and supply chains in Far North Queensland and across into the Northern Territory.
The IPP is focused on growing Queensland's priority industries, strengthening local supply chains, encouraging collaboration between government and industry and leveraging private sector investment.
