City of Darwin is seeking expressions of interest from local artists or organisations to curate the next round of Lightbox Exhibitions throughout the municipality.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said curating City of Darwin's Lightbox Exhibition program was a valuable opportunity for artists to gain experience in curating public artworks.
"We live in a vibrant city and we know the value that our creative sector brings - whether in enhancing tourism, increasing liveability or showcasing and developing local artists," Mr Vatskalis said.
"The Lightbox Exhibitions brighten our city and provide the opportunity to showcase the diverse talents of our local creatives," he said.
The Lightbox Exhibitions program works with curators to showcase local artists, encourages community dialogue around topical themes, and activate public spaces.
Purpose-built lightboxes host temporary exhibitions that change every six months.
The lightboxes are located in three sites across Darwin:
- The Smith Street Mall in the city centre hosts two double-sided lightboxes at each end
- Dragonfly Carpark hosts three single-sided lightboxes
- Nightcliff Pool hosts three single-sided lightboxes.
