A woman has been charged with alleged firearm and weapons offences following a vehicle stop in the state's south yesterday.
About 12.40pm (Monday 17 August 2026), officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command South stopped a van on Kosciuszko Road, Hill Top, for the purpose of roadside testing.
The driver of the van, a 33-year-old woman, was subjected to a roadside drug test, which allegedly returned a positive result for cocaine and methylamphetamine.
During a subsequent search of the van, officers allegedly located and seized a privately manufactured firearm, a gel blaster firearm, and several knives.
The 33-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Cooma Police Station where she was subjected to secondary testing which has been sent for further testing
She was charged with two counts of possess unauthorised firearm, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and custody of a knife in a public place.
The woman was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 3 today (Tuesday 18 August 2026).
